rain on my parade

Today I bought my textbooks for the three classes I'm taking Spring Term. That's right, the last three classes I'll ever take in college as an undergrad. At first things weren't too bad: sure I had 5 books to buy for my Literature and Film class but they were all pretty short. As I was gathering those up some books on the shelf above them caught my eye. I was very tempted to buy them even though I wasn't enrolled in the class that required them. Then I realized that I WAS enrolled in the class that required them—my American Novel class with Bruce!—and those weren't too bad either: there was a lot of them, but they were all pretty thin, too. Then came the books for my Civilization: Literature class. Those were the big hitters, books like the Illiad, the Aeneid , Dante's Divine Comedy... All in all the total was 19 books, $193. This semester is going to be a very interesting one...

You might be a bit busy with all of those books, but if you have time, check out http://twainia.com/contest/

It's a Mark Twain writing contest, and they're looking for someone who can complete one of his unfinished stories with the same wit that made him the American master. Are you the next Mark Twain?
