project #9: necklace fix

So I bought this necklace while I was in Ecuador and I just love it! It's all hand beaded and it's more of a collar than a necklace, but I think it's pretty fantastic.

However, I haven't been able to wear it because it doesn't have a clasp, just two strings to tie it on. And, since I don't want to wear this necklace forever, that posed a little bit of a problem.

So I pulled out my little case of jewelery hardware (left over from my more prolific jewelry making days), tied them on and vóila! Easy as pie. I haven't decided yet if I'm going to cut off the strings. There's something about them that makes me want to keep them, but I'm really not sure what. Maybe I'll dab some clear nail polish on those knots and that will make me feel more secure about the whole thing.

In Ecuador all the women wore these necklaces with white blousy tops, but I think it will look really nice with black. Probably with a higher neckline that in this picture, but I think these colors look nice together.

And done!
